(More customer reviews)This looks exactly like a mortar & pestle that I bought at a kitchen store over 10 years ago, (It was labeled as a house brand, so it's possible mine came from a different manufacturer.) But I wanted to comment on its design, which is very hard to find.
I can't understand why it's hard to find this design. It's awesome! The pestle, being so big that it covers the whole bowl, quickly crushes & then pulverizes everything in the bowl. Just grasp the pestle, press down, & move the handle around in a swirling motion for maybe a dozen swirls. Very easy to use.
Maybe the traditional pestle transmits more force when crushing extremely hard seeds, I don't know, but I've always felt that crushing spices with this was awesomely fast & efficient.
