(More customer reviews)This is a very well made turner. Just like all of the All-Clad kitchen utensils I have purchased. It is of very nice stainless steel. It was the reason I started displaying my cook ware. It is construced very sturdy and it is comfortable in the hand. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I think the angle to the head from the handle should be a little sharper to fit in skillets better and the edge is not beveled. I took my sharpening stones and gave the front of the spatula a bevel, so it slides under food better, and I enjoy it much better now.

Pretty soon, all four towels were covered in snags and became useless. Also, the material is definitely funky and isn't as absorbent as a kitchen towel should be. The initial description sure fooled me. Two thumbs down.

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 12-Inch Fry Pan Review

As a former professional chef, cookware retailer, and loyal Calphalon user for the past 20 years, I would like to say that I have rated this product only 3 stars due to the fact that Calphalon has grossly oversold this pan's capabilities. As you can imagine I have quite an assortment of pans ranging from French copper, steel, cast iron, and of course anodized aluminum non-stick.
This pan is expensive and does not come through on the promises that Calphalon has made to the buyers. It doesn't offer me enough advantages to warrant its usurping the place of copper-used where temp control and browning are important, cast iron-for high heat,or the traditional non-stick-used for just about everything else.
I have used Calphalon non-stick for the past 15 years as it is heavier gauge aluminum and the non-stick takes more abuse and doesn't degrade under higher temperatures like competing brands (it also browns pretty darn good). I replaced the first set after 7 years when the non-stick became slow to release and the outside "paint" scraped off with constant use. The second set has lasted 8 years and it too is ready to enter the non-stick graveyard. I was looking for a new non-stick set and had hoped that Calphalon One would offer the easy clean-up and easy release capabilities it advertised.
The pans do not release the food like a non-stick pan and they should not say it does. The exterior is only marginally easier to clean than the professional and commercial series (copper is easier and looks better when cleaned). But-the new handle is easier to grip and better balanced. We can only see how long this new finish lasts when "accidentally" overheated as invariably occurs.
Clean up is easy when you follow the instructions and use Barkeeper's Friend (which I have used for over 8 years) inside and out. Permanent discoloration often occurs when the oil film outside the pan is not removed carefully after each use. Also, extra fine steel wool (0000) is great for removing stubborn stains obtained over time.
If you are looking for a traditional non-stick finish do not purchase this pan. If you would like an easier clean up than stainless, less weight than copper or cast iron, and a sturdy finish then this pan is a good choice.

(More customer reviews)We bought this unit to fit into an under-counter space vacated by a similar-sized Panasonic microwave that died after a few years.
The unit does cook as promised but has some drawbacks that caused us to downgrade it as follows:
1) This is the WORST display we have ever seen on any product. It can only be read looking head-on (in not too bright ambient light). From any other angle, the numbers are virtually invisible or overlapped by the interior display "wires". Because we have an under-counter installation, we need to go down on one knee to read the display.
2) There are too many buttons - too many "bells and whistles"; too much clutter. We see no use for breakfast, lunch and dinner buttons each with its own time limit (and with ability to add/subtract time).As with the display, the user needs to be at eye level to read the button labels and figure out what to push.
3) The interior light only works during cooking; opening the door does not turn on the light. Accordingly (again an eye level issue), it is sometimes necessary to remove the food to inspect it.
4) The door opener is push-button. This is a matter of personal preference, but we would prefer a handle - easer to open; doesn't trap food; stays cleaner.
In summary, this is probably the only microwave that fits in our alloted space but somebody at Panasonic really needs to learn how to design a more user-friendly product.

DeLonghi DUH1100T Utility Heater with Timer Review

(More customer reviews)Electric space heaters are a poor choice to begin with, in terms of energy efficiency and economy. The product description of the DeLonghi DUH1100T liberally employs words such as "heavy duty" and states this unit's application is primary heating in a garage or basement. The all-metal construction and safety shut-off are additional attractive features. Unfortunately, this heater is simply not up to the task. The temperature achieved by the coils and the very small volume of air moved by the fan are wholly inadequate to heating anything more than the smallest enclosed space. At the highest settings, air movement is not perceptible much more than ten inches from the face. There is no possibility of it raising the temperature in the average room, and there is no point to even considering its use in a garage. The roll bars on the front are decorative, but the rear feet are so much lower than those in front that it is overbalanced to the rear and tips easily in that direction. I've seen smaller DeLonghi heaters which are useful in a small office, for example in a medical clinic. This unit, however, is very disappointing, of no practical use and I will be returning it.

Coleman 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffee Percolator Review

(More customer reviews)You need to know: there is a problem with the glass domes. The glass dome screws into the metal lid, and the glass screw threads break off on their own from the heat. Ive gone through 3 domes now. It wasnt uncommon to find shards of glass on top of the filter basket.
I use this pot at home, as I like perked coffee better- and there's darn few real percolators left. BTW, if youre thinking about buying an electric model, they all feature "fast brew" technology, and dont perk long enough. This pot is solid, but has a few shortcomings: the handle is a little unconfortable, but if you use a pot holder,(as it's designed for) it's fine. The body, lid, and basket are sturdy. The bottom is thick and sits flat on a glass cook top. But the stainless steel main stem assembly base/stem is a little thin, - wish it was sturdier- as the basket needs to be level to drip right. And dont remove the tight fitting lid by grabbing the glass dome- youll crack the bottom (threads) off the glass dome, it as I did. Coleman sends free replacements if you call the 800#. You might as well call them now to get a replacement, as it take 2 weeks to arrive.
Having said that, this pot is pretty solid, it's a good buy, and its real capacity is closer to 14 cups- I like that.
UPDATE: as I say above, the first glass dome cracked when I used it to remove the lid- it is shaped to be grabbed- wont make that mistake again. Coleman sent a replacement glass dome at no cost, no problem with them. That dome cracked within the first 10 days too, first just a little at the bottom, then practically right in half, and I did not grab it. I need to warn you that the glass dome breaking is a big issue with this pot. My pot is sitting on the shelf, not being used right now. I used it 6 weeks and went through 2 domes. Im calling Coleman and telling them about the problem, and asking them to send 5 domes so I will have enough to last 6 months. They should temper the glass on the dome to toughen it up. If youre looking for a pot to camp with choose the blue model, its very durable with no breakable parts.

The holes which make it air bake I would think would make delightful crisp crusts, but I warn you shopper, measure your oven first. I have a smaller older oven and this pie pan will not fit. So unless you have an oven measuring greater than 16" wide, you'll need to go smaller in your pan. This pan is a good weight and sturdy, not a flimsy pan and does not have any exposed metal (that hasnt been teflon coated first) which means it will last a good long time. Unfortunately I will have to be returning this to Amazon[.com]

I have no complaints about the double boiler (which rests comfortably in a variety of Cuisinart pots, and possibly others.) It works great, has a generous capacity and comfortable handle, and cleans up like a dream.
That said, it's really easy to make your own double boiler at home, using a heavy sauce pan plus a durable glass or steel mixing bowl that rests comfortably on top, never touching the boiling water underneath. If you have all of this equipment, you probably don't need to purchase this piece. If you decide you want a dedicated double boiler, then this is a fine choice.

(More customer reviews)I've spent a fortune in my lifetime buying "non-stick" fry pans, only to throw them out after a year or two. The finish comes off, they scratch, & they become difficult to clean. I finally decided to get smart & buy something that will last. After doing a little research on Circulon, here's what I learned...They have 3 "grades" that you can distinguish by their handles. The best is "infinite", it has an all steel handle. Next is "elite", it has a steel & silicone handle. Finally, there's Circulon 2/Total (that's what these are). They have a "plastic" handle. Each pan is oven-proof.(Infinite 500, Elite 400, 2/Total 350 degrees) Outside of the feel of the handles, one down side is that the Infinite is the only one that is "diswasher safe". With the other two, handwashing is recommended. I used to put everything in the dishwasher, and to be honest, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about handwashing them. What a piece of cake! Inside & out cleans beautifully & quickly. The triple pack was a great bargain compared to buying them separately, but I also purchased an "elite" and an "infinite" fry pan in addition to these, so I can tell you that in comparison they all cook food the same. I am extremely happy with the quality of these pans.....

(More customer reviews)I've owned French White for years and years, and they were the first casserole dish I always reached for. We had a mishap, broke my 10+ year old large oval casserole and replaced it with a new full set.
What a disappointment!!! CorningWare has changed something in their process or raw materials. The new dishes have tiny little "pits" in them that allows water to penetrate underneath the glaze. It looks unsightly when serving. The heft and feel aren't the same. Neither is the quality. You can tell the new pieces, as the bottoms have a ridge molded into the base. The older pieces are completely flat.
Using the new large oval dish, my adult daughter removed a full dish on lasagna from the oven and set it on a room temperature (burners turned off)stove top to cool. The dish shattered into pieces, and we had to throw everything out. CorningWare sent a replacement at no charge. The new dish has the same defects as the one that shattered.
I've been shopping at thrift stores and have managed to find older pieces. So disappointing the manufacture has cheapened/changed what was once a fabulous can't-live-without product.

We've had this microwave for a couple of months now, so I can't comment on its long-term reliability.
Good:
Mostly, it's been fine. It meets my primary requirement for a microwave, which is that you can put food into it, press 3 0 START, and it cooks for 30 seconds at full power. (It's amazing how many microwaves fail that test, requiring some other key before the time. Easy enough if you know how to use it, but not for visitors.)
It can do relatively complex sequences like:
- Wait 5 minutes (to line up completion time with other foods)
- Cook 4 minutes
- Wait 20 seconds (to give me time to stir)
- Cook 3 minutes
- Wait 2 minutes (post-cook "let stand" time)
It'll prompt you through most operations, though ... the ... prompting ... is ... kind ... of ... tedious.
The Sensor Reheat feature seems to do a pretty good job of warming food up to a good serving temperature. It overwarms frozen corn dogs a little, but only a little.
I haven't used it much, but the Sensor Cook feature did a good job on baked potatoes.
Complaints:
It's going to sound picky, but my biggest complaint with this microwave is that its beeper isn't loud enough. It's a little chirp-chirp that you could easily miss if you're in the next room. It does repeat the chirp every few minutes until you open the door.
The child lock is too hard to use. My other child-lockable appliances have a button with a lock icon on it; if you hold the button for about 5 seconds it locks or unlocks the device. For this one, though, the sequence is Function, 5, 1 to lock and Function, 5, 2 to unlock. (I had to go check.) Too hard to remember, and if you don't know that it starts with "Function" you're just hosed.
Nits:
There are a few features I don't use yet (and so at the moment they represent unnecessary complexity) - Popcorn, More/Less. "Quick Minute" doesn't seem like enough of a win to be worth a dedicated button - 1 0 0 START vs QM START? 6 0 START if you optimize a bit means QM only cuts out one keystroke. If you need three minutes, QM QM QM START is the same as 3 0 0 START.
I'd like a "hard pause" feature, where it would stop a cook sequence and beep, and then resume the cook sequence when I press "Start" after I stir the food.

Good:
-Makes 4 cups
-Has a rinse feature for tea. Although I would like to tweak that a bit.
-Mostly stainless steal and glass.
-Mostly very well made.
-Self cleaning, handy.
-Infusion basket is full size, so the tea has room to expand. It also is removable, and easy to clean sense it is stainless steal. This was one major draw back of the Zarafina, it's infusion basket was only half the size of the amount you could brew.
-Timer, it can be set the night before to make you tea in the morning!
-Has an automatic function for a second brew.
-Keeps tea warm for up to 30 minutes.
Bad:
-Very little temperature control. I though this would be the best part of this machine, with the lcd display and menu interface I assumed I would have more temperature chooses then 205 and 160. This also is to cold for some Black teas, and a bit to hot for some white teas.
-It's huge! Well this really is not that bad, but it is almost twice the size of the Zarafina and does not really fit under my cupboards on the counter. Of course it does make 4 cups.
-Some oddly cheap plastic parts. For example the infusion lid is made of plastic and puts off a plastic smell when brewing black tea.
-An interface only a programmer would love. It is not terribly user friendly, yet it is not hard ether. It does end up being tedious to deal with.
-Bad viewing angle on the LCD, I am taller, and find myself leaning over to see it clear. If it had more features, I would be impressed, but when I can not even dial in a temperature I wonder why we need it for the basic settings. That is until you use the timer for tea in the morning, then you will like it.Over all it has a feeling of a beta tea maker. A great first attempt for them, but obviously has a few bugs and corners that were cut un-neededly. You can tell they really understand what is important about brewing tea, with features including the pre rinse, but for some reason they fumble with only two temperature settings. Maybe they had internal pressure to cut costs or to rush its release? The tea comes out tasting great. Sure it is not as good as a gung fu method, but it is fairly close if you do not have time to make it by hand. So long as you don't need to brew at a temperature besides 160 or 205. If this tea maker was not so expensive, I would be more impressed, but at a retail price of $299 I would not recommend it unless you really needed 4 cups at a time, would like to wake up to fresh tea, or are independently wealthy. Now if you can pick one up on ebay for cheap, then thats a different story.
Ignoring price, it is better then the Zarafina. But considering retail price, the Zarafina is a much better buy.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
